U.S. president Trump made a pitch at Republican Party’s midterm convention, offering $5,000 US to every adult American if Republicans win midterm elections. He also added the ridiculously unenforceable strict condition that the money must be spent within the United States …. So beside committing criminal bribery and election corruption, he also a liar.
The proposed funding for this bribe would be revenue generated from federal tariffs on imported goods. But who pays those tariffs, American businesses and consumers themselves …. So Trump and JD Vance are bribing Americans with their own money.
It seems some lawyers think that while the move is probably unethical, it may not be illegal.
But is both unethical and amoral and Donald Trump and JD Vance should be prosecuted for both capital criminal bribery and domestic terrorism. They never will be, because the top of the hierarchy would never break the code of silence and punish their own. It is always a case of “It is not what you did, it is who you did it to” and here there is nobody being done to that anyone involves cares about, because that “anyone” is American democracy.
Trumps behavior is analogous to a business stakeholder who doesn’t fire an employee ( or rewards them) for sexual favours. Technically this is amoral and illegal, but there are probably 100,000 of these arrangements happening in the US at any moment. The only become criminal when the agrrement is broken, or it’s attempted with the wrong person. Again it is not about “what you did” it is “who you did it to”. Like the voting public with Trumps criminal bribery, and the unconnected person being forced to sexual activity to keep their employment …. they are not empowered enough to matter.
After the results of the 2026 midterms come in, this dynamic will answer the age old question …. just how dumb and gullible are 60% of Americans? The other 40% are cashing in on Trumps behavior, or see him and his stakeholders for what they are.
