This is a novel I wrote in the archetype of a fairy tale, about a mermaid named Emeralda. The story dives into mermaid culture, and the life of a particular mermaid who lives all by herself on an island in the warm south seas.

WARNING … This story contains vivid sexual elements, although most of it is implied, and all consensual, and gentle.

It also contains themes of philosophy and theology

Small spoiler: Some people might find Emeralda’s reaction to human war technology as exaggerated, or overplayed, but as a child in grade 5, I had a school field trip to the Canadian warship The Haida, and when I stood in front of that thing, I literally did go into the gray, and I don’t really know what happened afterwards, only that I didn’t step one foot onto that ship, and spent the time in somebody’s office instead, and I don’t even know whose office that was.
